ghetto kid

After a long time I went back to New Babbage and did some shopping. Here I am with my new urchin outfit. Was not  easy to find shoes in my inventory because I couldn´t wear two invisible making layers (one for the body and one for the feet) at the same time. So I have to wear shoes without mesh.

I like my poor ghetto coat!

Today I wanted to set up my new gallery in Art Village (see recent posting) but I couldn´t find neither a village nor a gallery. First I thought of a bug in the system but I found my  stuff - walls and borders - in my lost and found folder. The group message told me that there were griefers on the sim and the owner was so frustrated about that so he decided to pull down the complete village.

I understand that this is an anoying thing but destroying a good project - hmmm - that´s confusing for me and seems to be a strange behaviour.

Asmita Duranyaja has invited me to show my stuff on her Meisterbastler gallery. I will start my installation on sunday and hope to be ready in some days. Opening will be in two weeks.

Centre d´Art Virtuel

Several months ago I met Wayne Alsop-Questi. He was the owner of Chilbo Gallery which does no longr exist. But now he is back! Fresh ideas, fresh invitation to play around with art. He sent a group message to interested artists who want some space for their work in his newly created art village in Italian style. The little village is really amazing and - I am hapy to say - I´ve got some free prims for my artwork. Come and have a look and it would be great to see you on my vernissage next time!

From Oct 1st to 5th the Metropolis community will be celebrating Oktoberfest 2013. They have invited me to show some of my art work. The stalls are still empty but I am busy with filling them now.
And at the same time I have to fill a not so small region for the Festival der Liebe (FdL) which will be held for 2 of 5 days in Metropolis and 3 days in Second Life. The FdL 2013 is a German speaking event because of the many live readings but artists from all over the world are invited to take part because art is an international language.
Have a look on the schedule at Brennende Buchstaben´s blog (right side top).

no free texture upload

Linden Lab often delights us with changes. Now they have decided to cancel the temporarily free texture upload. But thanks to my friends who informed me about something special - another way to get free texture upload. I think it saves you so much money when you are a builder or artist and you need to experementalise a lot. Okay here is the hint how to get free textures. But you should know now those textures are only visible for you and nobody else. And you won´t find them in your inventory.
Click on the prim and go into texture menu. Then under the texture picture click on "add". It allows you to upload from your computer. You will get a list of uploaded textures in that case you have dropped more than one. You can select a texture and it appears on your prim. No need to pay L$.

my new avie

Messing around in Metropolis Open Sim I tried to make a new (better) avatar. But stuff you can buy there is not really what I would call "nice". Looks more like SL 1985. So I made my own avie - a pink butterfly with one-eyed glasses, rabbit ears and green wings.
Oh sure - the wings are my own creation, too!

Tokyo - as the sim name says it is an Asian city with a field, power lines, an urban environment, traditional housies as well as modern but abandoned ones. Flair of concrete and rust.

scripts and stuff

That´s me - FirleFanz: Prepairing for my next exhibit and struggling with scripts. Owl Braveheart has invited me to show some artwork at Mahakesh - The Shadow. Actually I am struggling with scripts. They normally don´t what I want them to do. And they cause bad side effects. The region is set to "adult" so I had to change the preferences on my account to be able to reach the sim. Now I am an adult with a child avatar .... strange. But I will change again after that exhibit. Nevertheless I am looking forward to the vernissage: 08.01.2013

I am member of the SL group Mental Health Awareness founded by Joshuan Banx. The last group meeting was about disorder and flashbacks and how to handle with flashbacks and self mutilation. The group is very active and well moderated by Joshuan. It is not leaded by professionals but each other can get positive feedback and / or share experiences.
This week´s meeting was about Asperger syndrome.
If you are interested in themes around health join the group and stay informed about meetings and links to useful websites.

information about PTSD

I received a group message this afternoon that seemed to be interesting. They wanted to hold the group meeting in a region which introduces its visitors to the theme "PTDS" (post-traumatic stress disorder). The environment is designed combat and war related. I flew to the educational region before the group meeting because I was curious.
In the entrance you will get an HUD and it leads you through the area. It is not a game but it has game similar elements. Uniforms will be offered for male and female avatars. You can drive with a car and you can experience war scences with fights, deads and explosions. After that you can walk through a shopping mall as a civilian. Flashbacks suddenly will light up and so you can see what post-traumatic stress means in everyday life. The speaker explains the mental problems (depression, anxity, sleeplessness and some more).
My personal opinion?
It is a great opportunity we have in Second Life that we can make inner processes visible. But not only soldiers suffer from PTSD. Victims of rape, child abuse, bank robbery ... countless possibilities. So no need to highlight the army. I have the suspicion that they wanted promote the US army. They wanted promote the army by remind us of the American heroism.
Besides the positive aspects I have described I must say: thumbs down. Make less war and less people will suffer from PTSD.

After a long break I joined Cloud Party on facebook today again. They have been busy with creating new stuff for the avatars so I put on a new pullover. The location you can see my avatar standing on is called Moon Base.,-9.7,-0.9,-2.7
No idea whether it is possible to create same cool stuff as you can in SL. Still exploring ...

Seric Serupta

I spent the sunday evening on a service for Seric Serupta. Talia Serupta, his girl friend and life partner in SL  as well as in RL, had invited to the commemoration on Faery Crossing. They spent a lot of their common SL time on this fantasy sim. So many elves and fairies joined her. The visitors could enlight a candle swimming on the pond or they could enrole into the guest book to leave some verses for Seric.
I didn´t know Seric really good. He was shy and not that someone who showers you with words and blabla about this and that. When Talia told me about his death I was quite shocked. It was a bad surprise and too early for a young man to leave the world.  Born in 1978, member of the SL community since June 2009, he passed away on Easter. I met him first on City17, a rusted and grungy looking sim created by Trashmen Hax. I sold my damaged traffic signs there when Talia invited me to her virtual home in City17, where I talked to Seric.
I left him one last IM and I hope he will read it wherever he may be now. I am sure he looked at us yesterday and smiled ...
